The Beyerdynamic DT 770 PRO have been around for so long and still provide very good value if you can get them at the right price. These are my personal thoughts after using them for over a year.
A history
The Beyerdynamic DT 770 PRO is ancient at this point being released in 1985. But if the sound was good back then it's still good now. For a general price range of 110-150$ this pair of headphones offers quite a good value.
How does it sound
Very clear, you can hear a lot of details and make out the little sounds other more mainstream or gaming headphones simply muffle out or distance into a background noise. Audiophiles may criticize these headphones for lacking in certain aspects but at the price they offer a very good value. By default they come with a flatter EQ lacking bass, however you can adjust it with an equalizer like Peace.
These are my thoughts for the 80 OHM version and are generally accepted to still be true for the 32 OHM version. The 250 OHM version's sound does not seem to get a lot of praise so I wouldn't recommend it even with an amplifier.
The passive isolation is standard and you cannot hear sounds from outside when music is playing.
Build quality
Outstanding, they are built like a tank. I've only owned them for a year but many people claim they have lasted them over 10 years. The pads can get worn within a few years but are easily changed. The body is a mix of plastic and metal with ample cushioning.
Comfort
They can stay on my head for more than 4 hours at a time and I forget about them. The clamping force is light and cushions provide good padding on the ears and headband. They can get a little hot with the velour version I own but I live in a tropical country so mileage may vary.
Should I buy them?
At under 140$ I can definitely recommend the DT 770 PRO. They offer a good sound experience which can be tuned to your liking, have amazing comfort and build quality for the price. If you can't find them for a good price there are a few other options available the Audio-Technica ATH-M50X offer good sound at a similar price.
