How building your own computer is easy and saves you money

Desktop computers are the workhorses of enthusiasts, gamers and professionals. At the high end, they barely break a sweat even when crunching the most intensive tasks and they do all of that for cheaper than a laptop.
A desktop computer will always be cheaper and faster
For an equal price, a laptop will never compare to a full blown desktop computer, whilst giving you freedom of movement the laptop tends to overheat and is limited in how much current can get to the components, thus reducing the performance even more. For these reasons, desktops tend to be better suited for gaming and other productivity tasks. Desktop monitors usually provide better color gamut coverage, larger displays and higher refresh rates for cheaper. You can easily find a good 2K monitor for around 250$/220€.
Buying a prebuilt vs building yourself
Buying a prebuilt desktop computer may now seem like an attractive option, but I stop you right there! The markup on a prebuilt computer is usually around 100$ to 300$, or even more from premium companies like Alienware.
Now, when I tell you to build a computer, you may imagine it to be a very complex and hyper-specialized task that you can’t accomplish, it is not. As a PC enthusiast, I built my first computer at a young age after watching only a couple videos and reading a few articles (I will link some resources below). The computer worked right away and it was one of the most rewarding experiences in my life.

A computer is composed of multiple components assembled in the same way as a lego set, but the pieces are much more fragile. A steady hand and following instructions is needed, all fits into place.
A computer is typically comprised of the following components:
- CPU - Central Processing Unit
- Motherboard
- RAM - Random Access Memory
- PSU - Power supply unit
- SSD - Solid State Drive / HDD - Hard Disk Drive
- GPU - Graphics Processing Unit
- PC Case
- Monitor and peripherals - separate
